How Organized Control@MIT Event

The Laboratory for Information & Decision Systems ran a one-day event titled “Control@MIT” on November 2, 2018. This event was organized by Prof. Jonathan How. The program involved a vast number of stimulating talks on a wide array of topics by faculty and researchers spanning from various departments. These talks reinforced the message that control is a central component of the research frontier in a wide variety of contexts and continues to provide opportunities for deep methodological research.

The main objective of this event was to bring together the numerous MIT sub-communities involved in control and to share current research, discuss challenges and opportunities in the field, and identify opportunities for collaboration and future research. It focused on the field of systems and control, which is a vibrant and dynamic research area, with a growing impact across an impressive range of domains — from bioengineering and robotics to manufacturing and telecommunications. There were about 100 people attending this event.
