Wu Named Gilbert W. Winslow Career Development Assistant Professor

LIDS faculty member Cathy Wu, who joined MIT in 2019 July, was named the Gilbert W. Winslow Career Development Assistant Professor by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE). This prestigious appointment provides support for professional activities. The award reflects the excellence of Cathy’s work, as well as the great potential for her future contributions to research and education at MIT.

Cathy’s research sits at the intersection of machine learning, optimization, and large-scale urban systems and other societal systems. Her recent work focuses on mixed autonomy systems in mobility, which studies the complex integration of automation such as self-driving cars into existing urban systems. She is broadly interested in developing principled computational tools to enable reliable and complex decision-making for critical societal systems.
